Malmö reunion for Andersson

Anders Andersson has returned to Malmö FF from CF Os Belenenses eight years after leaving the Swedish club.

Ulterior motive
The 31-year-old midfielder, who has scored three goals in 27 games for Sweden and was a member of their UEFA EURO 2004™ squad, said he was delighted to return home but also had an ulterior motive in rejoining his old team.

Important role
"It's great to be back home," he said. "Throughout my years abroad, the club and fans have tried to lure me back, so I feel welcome. I hope I can bring some valuable experience and use my passing skills to improve the team. I see this as a way for me to try and get back in the national side."

Signing spree
The former Blackburn Rovers FC, Aalborg BK and SL Benfica player's return follows the arrival in Malmo of Danish striker Jesper Bech as Tom Prahl's side seek to close the four-point gap between them and Allsvenskan leaders Djurgårdens IF and prepare for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

Creative hub
Prahl sees Andersson as a valuable addition. "His return makes me really happy as he's a great player and another former Malmö man," said the coach. "I hope Anders can add creativity in the middle of the park, which is something we've been missing."
