Ligament sprain
The Brazilian international, who was carried off after 43 minutes of yesterday's 3-2 home win against ACF Fiorentina, underwent a scan on his knee this morning which confirmed the extent of the injury. "The diagnosis is a collateral ligament sprain in his right knee. Adriano will need a one-week rest before starting rehabilitation," the club said.
'Strange feeling'
"I had a strange feeling because it was not especially painful," Adriano said. "But I knew immediately that I could not carry on playing. Now I will work hard to return as quickly as possible." The 23-year-old is not expected to be fit for the first leg against Milan on 6 April and is also a major doubt for the return six days later.
