Unfortunate collision
Samuel, the scorer of Madrid's second goal at the Santiago Bernabéu, clashed heads with Mallorca striker Bernardo Romeo and needed medical attention on the touchline, although he was later able to rejoin the match, albeit with a broken nose. The player underwent x-rays this morning to assess the damage to his nose and has been booked into a clinic to have the break fused together on Tuesday.
Surgical mask
Club medical staff will only be able to gauge how long Samuel will be sidelined for once the operation has taken place, but FC Barcelona's Carles Puyol was out for three weeks after a similar injury last season. However, depending on the gravity of the fracture, the 26-year-old may be allowed to play wearing a protective mask.
