Article body
French experience
The 19-year-old joined Valencia on a five-year deal in 2003 from AJ Auxerre, but has now agreed an additional three years. He made his first-team debut in the 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid on 30 August 2003 and went on to play his part in the team’s Spanish league and UEFA Cup double last season. Sissoko has made 32 league appearances to date but has yet to score for the club.
Ankle trouble
The player is resting after suffering a blow to his left ankle during last Sunday’s 2-0 defeat of RCD Mallorca that left Valencia fourth in the Primera División. Club doctors will assess his situation over the weekend but his participation in the decisive UEFA Champions League match against Werder Bremen on Wednesday looks unlikely.
