Brown commits to United

Manchester United FC defender Wes Brown has agreed a new contract at Old Trafford until June 2008.

Happy to stay
The 25-year-old English international has come through the ranks at United and had no hesitation in agreeing the new deal. "I've always wanted to stay at Manchester United," he said. "I've developed my career here and I'm delighted to be staying." Brown has been a regular this season, his most recent appearance coming in last night's 4-1 home victory against AC Sparta Praha.

Uncertain time
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Over the last few weeks there has been a great deal of uncertainty and that has been a worry. I have known Wes since he was 13 years old and have watched and seen him grow into a splendid young man. I couldn't bear to lose him." Brown has been capped seven times by his country and was in the England squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
