Keyhole surgery
The Brazilian international had keyhole surgery today to determine the extent of the problem suffered in last night's 1-0 defeat of CD Numancia, and it revealed that he has torn his lateral cruciate ligament as well as suffering cartilage damage.
Fell awkwardly
The 28-year-old, who arrived at Camp Nou in a reported €10m transfer from Olympique Lyonnais in July, sustained the injury shortly after coming on for Samuel Eto'o. Edmílson was taken off on a stretcher after falling awkwardly when attempting to head the ball.
Long-term injuries
Tests conducted last night had revealed both ligament and cartilage damage in his right knee, before confirmation of the extent of the problem arrived after today's visit to the Asepeyo Clinic in Barcelona. The Blaugrana are already missing Gabri García, Sylvinho, Albert Jorquera and Thiago Motta because of long-term injuries.
