Numerous trophies
The 29-year-old has thrived at Porto after following José Mourinho to northern Portugal from UD Leiria in 2002. He claimed a domestic double in his first campaign with the Dragons in addition to the UEFA Cup, and last season produced some telling displays as Mourinho's side won the UEFA Champions League. Nuno Valente was also a key cog in the Portugal team that reached the UEFA EURO 2004™ final, playing every minute after the opening defeat by Greece.
Rossato off
Meanwhile, Brazilian defender Adriano Rossato has left Porto for Real Sociedad de Fútbol without playing a game. Luigi Del Neri signed the 27-year-old from CD Nacional during his brief stay at the Estádio do Dragão but Rossato was unwanted by the Italian's replacement as coach, Víctor Fernández, who sold him to Real for an undisclosed fee. Other players departing the club are Marco Ferreira, who has joined Vitória SC on a one-year loan, and Bruno Mores, who has agreed a similar move to Vitória FC.
