AS Monaco FC will need to produce the form which saw them eclipse Real Madrid CF's Primera División rivals RC Deportivo La Coruña 8-3 - a competition record - on Matchday 4 if they are to progress following a 4-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabéu. The winners will play either Chelsea FC or Arsenal FC for a place in the 26 May final, at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. There is little to choose between the London rivals: separated by four league points, their first leg ended 1-1.

Goal promise
Despite Olympique Lyonnais chipping away at their ten-point lead, Monaco still top Ligue 1 by a point. Madrid have a similar advantage in Spain, with Valencia CF proving as relentless in their pursuit as Lyon. A 2-0 victory will be enough for Monaco to advance at the Stade Louis II, yet Madrid have scored in eight of their nine European ties this season and have designs on doing so again in the principality. Chelsea midfield player Scott Parker feels tonight's opponents may have lost their invincible aura following Saturday's FA Cup semi-final defeat by Manchester United FC: "Who knows how it will affect them?" he said. "They might crack a bit and we're waiting to pounce."
