Article body
Double blow
The double blow was confirmed on the day Claudio Ranieri's side were paired with London rivals Arsenal FC in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. The 30-year-old Cudicini broke his right hand in training on Thursday while Sullivan, 34, could be out for up to three weeks with a pulled leg muscle, also sustained in training.
Ambrosio awaits
Marco Ambrosio, who has made just one appearance for the west London club, is now in line to play this weekend against Bolton Wanderers FC, with 18-year-old Yves Makalambay on the bench. If Sullivan does not recover by 24 March, then Ambrosio - who, like Cudicini, is Italian - will be in line to face Arsenal.
Macho also injured
The other senior goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge, Jurgen Macho, is out injured for the whole of the season. Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech has been signed from Stade Rennais FC but will not arrive at the club until the summer.
