Eight seasons
The 26-year-old Italian international has recently been the subject of transfer speculation but his new deal now ties him to the club until 2006. The former AC Cesena player has been at Milan for eight seasons and was part of last year's UEFA Champions League-winning side.
Injury
The holders face AC Sparta Praha in the first knockout round at the end of February but Ambrosini must first overcome a muscle injury that he picked up in the Coppa Italia victory against AS Roma last night. He will have a scan tomorrow to determine the severity of the injury.
