United unveil French forward

French striker Louis Saha has completed an €18.5m transfer to Manchester United FC from Fulham FC, signing a five-and-a-half year contract.
 
Striving for improvement
The 25-year-old has been handed the No9 shirt last worn by Andrew Cole before his move to Blackburn Rovers FC two years ago. "It's a fantastic honour to wear the shirt and I hope I can be a success like those who have worn it in the past," said Saha. "I'm always trying to become a better player and I believe I can improve so much more playing at United."

Porto test
Although Saha is ineligible for United's FA Cup fourth-round match against Northampton Town FC on Sunday, he will be able to play in the UEFA Champions League. United meet FC Porto in the first knockout round on 25 February and 9 March.
