Article body
Surgery needed
The 22-year-old Argentinian striker requires surgery after damaging his right knee in a Ukrainian Cup tie against FC Illychivets Mariupil last month. Nanni is not expected to return for at least three months, ruling him out of Dynamo's preparations for the second half of the Ukrainian Premier League season, which begins in the spring.
Must-win game
Dynamo currently lie fourth in Champions League Group B, but only trail leaders FC Lokomotiv Moskva by two points. A win against third-placed Inter in Kiev would take Dynamo into the last 16, but any other result would leave them out of European competition.
Mixed fortunes
Ironically, Nanni, who joined Dynamo from CA Vélez Sársfield in September and has been ineligible to play in the Ukrainian Premier League this year after missing the transfer deadline, scored his first goal for the club in the cup game against Illichivets.
