'Best solution'
Bergdølmo has put pen to paper on a two-year contract, after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the former Rosenborg BK player. Ajax's managing director Arie van Eijden said: "The competition for places at Ajax was great and a transfer was the best solution for André. We are happy that he can now play in the Bundesliga."
Injury crisis
The versatile 31-year-old will bolster a Dortmund squad that has been hit by injuries to wing-backs Evanilson and Torsten Frings, the Metzelder brothers, Christoph and Malte, and defensive midfielder Guy Demel. A Dutch champion in 2001/02, Bergdølmo had joined Ajax from Rosenborg in 2000 and was contracted to the club until 2004.
