Swap deal for Sparta and Liberec

AC Sparta Praha have swapped Michal Pospísil for FC Slovan Liberec's Petr Johana.

Three-year deals
The two players have each signed three-year contracts with their new clubs in a deal which is estimated to be worth €500,000 to Liberec. Initially, Pospísil was reluctant to leave Sparta, having won the league with the club last season, but he agreed to the switch upon his return from holiday.

'New opportunity'
"[Liberec] coach [Ladislav Skorpil] persuaded me that I have a new opportunity here," said Pospísil, who scored seven league goals last term but failed to win a regular place in the side in the spring. He had previously scored the golden goal winner as Czech Republic knocked Italy out of the 2002 UEFA Under-21 Championship in the semi-finals.

'Big challenge'
Meanwhile, Johana has won 12 caps for the senior national team, but struggled to regain his place after suffering a knee injury that kept him out for two months in late 2002. "Sparta represent a big challenge for me and I hope to be back in the national squad soon," said Johana.

Magnificent seven
Sparta have reinforced their squad with seven players for the new season, signing Jirí Rosický, Patrik Jezek, Pavel Krmas, Radoslav Kovác, Igor Glušcevic and Mirko Poledica in addition to Johana. Pospísil, meanwhile, represents Liberec's first foray into the transfer market.
