Captain's innings
The veteran midfield player has moved back to the Letná stadium after a season spent with FK Chmel Blšany, the 'village' team he captained during their debut campaign in the top flight. After helping Blšany avoid relegation, Nemec has signed for Sparta on a free transfer. He had joined the Bohemia club on a one-year deal last summer.
UEFA Cup winner
The 37-year-old left Sparta for German side FC Schalke 04 in 1993. He returns as the oldest player in the Czech league and with a UEFA Cup medal, won with Schalke in 1997, in his pocket.
New recruits
Nemec becomes Sparta's eighth summer signing and will be available to play in the UEFA Champions League in 2003/04. Coach Jirí Kotrba's other new recruits are Petr Johana, Jirí Rosický, Pavel Krmas, Patrik Jezek, Radoslav Kovác, Igor Glušcevic and Mirko Poledica.
