Trabelsi challenge
The Dutch international was forced out of Tuesday evening's UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie at AFC Ajax on 26 minutes following a challenge by defender Hatem Trabelsi. Renowned Belgian specialist Doctor Marc Martens confirmed the extent of the injury to Seedorf's right knee today, maintaining that the 27-year-old would need at least two months to make a full recovery.
Unique record
Seedorf was bidding for a unique record of becoming the first player to claim three Champions League winners' medals with three different clubs, having been triumphant with Ajax in 1995 and Real Madrid CF in 1998.
Pirlo visit
Seedorf's team-mate Andrea Pirlo also visited the Martens clinic after the midfield player injured his knee preparing for the game against Ajax. His diagnosis was more encouraging, however, with the Italian international likely to be sidelined for up to ten days.
Frustrating evening
Although they secured a goalless draw in the Amsterdam Arena, it was a frustrating evening for Milan, with midfield player Gennaro Gattuso picking up a yellow card to rule him out of the return leg on 23 April.
