Bayern battle back against Milan

FC Bayern München came from behind to beat Milan AC 2-1 in Real Madrid CF's centenary tournament.

FC Bayern München came from behind to beat Milan AC 2-1 in the second game of Real Madrid CF's pre-season centenary tournament.

Two free-kicks
Filippo Inzaghi put the Italian side ahead after just ten minutes but free-kick goals from Michael Tarnat and Mehmet Scholl gave Bayern the victory, and a place in tomorrow's final against the hosts. Milan will now play Liverpool, beaten 2-0 by Madrid last night, in a consolation match before the final.

Rivaldo watching

Milan were without star signing Rivaldo, but the Brazilian FIFA World Cup winner was in the crowd to watch his new side in action. The Italians made a lively start and were rewarded when Dario Simic strode down the right and crossed for Inzaghi to score.

Seedorf denied
Bayern drew level on 22 minutes when Tarnat fired a low shot into the far corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area. Clarence Seedorf came close to giving Milan the lead again when he hit the frame of the goal just after half-time, but Bayern kept their cool and clinched the win with Scholl's effort on 74 minutes.
