Eight goals
The injury meant Robert, 27, missed Newcastle's 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in a pre-season friendly on Saturday. The former Montpellier Hérault SC and Paris Saint-Germain FC man scored eight goals for the north-east club last season in 36 appearances.
International hope
It will also be a blow for his international aspirations as France rebuild for EURO 2004™. Robert, capped nine times by his country, missed out on the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals but would have been hoping to figure at the start of the UEFA European Championship campaign next month.
