Article body
RC Deportivo La Coruña have signed goalkeeper Juanmi on a free transfer from relegated Real Zaragoza after Nuno, Depor's No2 keeper, moved to FC Porto for €3m as part of a deal which will see central defender Jorge Andrade arrive at the Municipal de Riazor stadium for €12m from the Portuguese club.
Five-year contract
Augusto César Lendoiro, the Deportivo president, completed the deal for Juanmi, who will sign a five-year contract, by fax today. The 31-year-old will provide back-up to first-choice keeper José Molina after rejecting overtures from RCD Mallorca.
'Agreement is total'
The Primera División club hope to unveil Juanmi later today in addtition to Andrade. "We expect the deal [for Andrade] to be completed shortly because the agreement between the clubs and the player is total," Lendoiro said. "Andrade could be with us late on Friday or early on Saturday."
Eight caps
Capped eight times by Portugal, Andrade made two appearances at this summer's FIFA World Cup as the fancied Portuguese were eliminated at the first hurdle. However, their premature exit was no slight on Andrade who has earned a towering reputation since joining Porto from CF Estrela Amadora in 2000. He played every minute of Porto's 12 UEFA Champions League games last season.
