First blood
The Porto side struck first blood on 16 minutes when Cafu was hauled down in the area and striker Elpidio Silva made no mistake from the spot.
Goulart strike
The home faithful were still celebrating the opener when Cafu, buoyed by winning the penalty, sent in a panic-inducing cross that fell into the path of Brazilian playmaker Alexandre Goulart. His strike bounced once before comprehensively beating rival goalkeeper Mario Muscat.
Silva shines
Hibernians only threatened once in the first half, when striker Ndvbisi Chukunyere blasted over after a pass from midfield player Roderick Baldacchino. The third came just before the half hour. Silva grabbed his second when he was on hand to slam in a well-weighted cross from compatriot Duda.
Valos jump
Boavista eased the pace after the break but still enjoyed the clearer chances to score, though they could only complete the rout with a minute to go – when Argentinian midfield player Fernando Ávalos outjumped two Hibernians defenders to power a header into the net.
