Sergen to miss Liverpool match

Galatasaray SK's Sergen Yalçin will miss his side's next UEFA Champions League game.

Galatasaray SK midfielder Sergen Yalçin will miss his side's UEFA Champions League game against Liverpool FC on 20 February due to injury.

Surgery in Germany
Sergen will be sidelined for at least three weeks after injuring his right ankle. The Turkish international, expected to figure prominently in his country's FIFA World Cup campaign this summer, will fly to Germany for surgery in the coming days.

Niculescu standing by
Galatasaray coach Mircea Lucescu will probably replace Sergen with recent Romanian signing Radu Niculescu. Galatasaray have Sergen on loan from Siirt JSK until the end of the season, although the Turkish second division club have threatened to sell him to Besiktas JK if a debt on the loan deal is not paid. Both Istanbul clubs are looking for Sergen’s permanent signature for next season.
