Batistuta return boosts Roma

Argentinian striker Gabriel Batistuta looks set to make his comeback for AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League against Galatasaray SK on Tuesday.

Argentinian striker Gabriel Batistuta looks set to make his comeback for AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League Group B match against Galatasaray SK in Istanbul on Tuesday night.

Thigh injury
The forward has been out since the end of October after suffering a thigh injury in the Rome derby against S.S. Lazio. He is likely to replace Marco Delvecchio in the Roma attack for the opening second group stage encounter.

‘A bit anxious’
Roma coach Fabio Capello said: "Batistuta trained well on Friday last week and looked good. He was scoring goals, running well and I thought about involving him. But on Saturday I saw that he was a bit anxious and I decided to rest him and didn't want to risk him even for 20 minutes."

20 goals
Batistuta's move to Roma last season provided the missing link for the club, who went on to win the Serie A championship thanks to the 20 goals he scored. But he has had a less impressive start to this season. He has scored only two goals in Serie A and is yet to get off the mark in the Champions League.
