Brnović joins Montenegro staff

Former RCD Espanyol midfielder Branko Brnović was "proud and delighted" after being named as assistant to the first Montenegro national team coach Zoran Filipović.

Proud achievement
The 40-year-old, who scored three goals in 27 appearances for Yugoslavia and played under Filipović with the national team at the 1998 FIFA World Cup, said: "I am proud and delighted to be a member of technical staff and to work with Filipović again. I am sure that we will do a good job and get good results."

First foray
This will be one-time FK Partizan star Brnović's first foray into coaching after hanging up his boots in the winter following a spell with FK Kom Podgorica. He will join goalkeeping coach Zoran Lemajić, formerly of Sporting Clube de Portugal, among Filipović's back-room staff.

'Complete faith'
"I have complete faith in my assistants," said the coach. "I know them well. I worked with Brnović in the Yugoslavia team and Lemajić was my rival - when I was coach at [SL] Benfica he was goalkeeper at Sporting. I chose them because they international experience and know how to make our national team stronger."
