Petrov picked by Atlético

Club Atlético de Madrid have signed the Bulgarian international midfielder Martin Petrov from VfL Wolfsburg.

'Big investment'
The 26-year-old landed in the Spanish capital yesterday and following a successful medical this morning has been presented as Atlético's third summer capture after the arrivals of Mateja Kezman and Maxi Rodríguez. "We are investing a lot of money and the player has always maintained he wants to play here," said Atlético sporting director Antonio Muñoz.

Early career
Petrov scored 28 goals in 116 Bundesliga games after joining Wolfsburg from Servette FC in 2001. His early career in his homeland was shaped by spells at FC Botev Vratsa and PFC CSKA Sofia.
