UEFA Europa League contenders Estoril Praia have reached an agreement to bring in their second new recruit of the summer, signing midfielder Afonso Taira from Córdoba CF on a four-year deal.
A former Portuguese Under-19 international, Taira previously spent time at Estoril as a youth player, before joining the academy at Sporting Clube de Portugal in 2006. "I am very happy to be here," said the 21-year-old, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Atlético Clube de Portugal.
"I want to grow as a player and I'm certain I will be able to do that at Estoril. This is a special club for me – a club that I already know well, since I was here for two years as a youngster – and I like the project that has been put in place here over the last few years."
Taira becomes the second player to join the Estoril ranks for next season, after young Nigerian midfielder Anderson also agreed to join the club. Fourth in the Portuguese Liga last term, Estoril will compete in the UEFA Europa League group stage in 2014/15.
