A Foxi Kéthévoama hat-trick helped Kecskeméti TE claim their first Hungarian Cup as Tomislav Sivić's side overcame new league champions Videoton FC 3-2 at the Puskás Stadion in Budapest.
Kecskemét, who were promoted to the top tier for the first time three years ago, were given a dream start when Foxi headed them into a second-minute lead from Attila Tököli's right-wing cross. Tököli, a two-time cup winner from his playing days at Ferencvárosi TC, then repeated the trick 12 minutes later, setting up Foxi to double his tally with a composed finish.
Determined not to give up on their dream of a domestic double without a fight, Videoton scored at the start of the second-half through Vladan Čukić's own goal. However, in the 79th minute Foxi restored the two-goal advantage after controlling Bodiong Ebala's left-wing cross and firing in from ten metres.
The tension mounted after Nemanja Nikolić halved the deficit eight minutes from time but Kecskemét held on for a place in next season's UEFA Europa League second qualifying round.
