Article body
Ronaldo was sent off in the closing minutes as Real Madrid CF lost their first Primera División match of the season 1-0 at Getafe CF.
Alexis winner
Centre-back Alexis gave Bernd Schuster's side a deserved victory when he headed in from a corner 15 minutes into the second half. Madrid's misery was compounded when Ronaldo was sent off just before the final whistle when he picked up a second yellow card for dissent. The Brazilian striker will now miss next week's game against his former club FC Barcelona.
Madrid drop
Getafe move up to eighth place, a point behind their illustrious neighbours who dropped to fifth following Club Atlético de Madrid's controversial 2-1 home victory against RC Recreativo de Huelva. Sergio Aguero appeared to score the winning goal with his hand as he ran in at the far post after Fernando Torres had headed on a corner 12 minutes from time.
Two off
Both sides ended the game with ten men, Recre losing defender Dani Bautista in the 81st minute and Atlético full-back Giourkas Seitaridis following him down the tunnel just before the final whistle. Atlético join Barcelona and Valencia CF at the top of the table on 13 points, although they have played a game more than their rivals.
