European hope
The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at La Beaujoire and will follow in the footsteps of compatriot Viorel Moldovan, who enjoyed four successful years with Nantes before recently leaving for Servette FC in Switzerland. The French club are competing in the UEFA Intertoto Cup, although Bratu will not be eligible for their third round return at Cork City FC this Saturday with Nantes holding a 3-1 first-leg lead over the Irish side.
Rapid start
Bratu, who could be registered for the Intertoto Cup semi-finals and final should Nantes progress, made his name with AFC Rapid Bucuresti scoring 15 goals in 48 games before a €1.5m transfer to Turkish side Galatasaray last August.
International goals
However, Bratu, a versatile performer who can play on either wing, had a mixed time in Istanbul, scoring six goals in 25 league appearances. He has scored twice in nine internationals for Romania.
