Article body
The NSBiH is aiming to transform women's football in the country with its first dedicated strategy, titled Our Time, Our Turn.
Spanning from 2025 to 2029, the strategy aims to create an inspiring pathway of opportunities for current and future female players.
Building a strong and sustainable infrastructure that supports the growth of clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers in Bosnia and Herzegovina is also a key focus.
Growing the women's game in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Our Time, Our Turn is based on seven strategic pillars – participation, talent pathway and national teams, club and competition environment, education and workforce development, facilities, organisational development, and marketing and communication.
Goals include increasing the number of girls participating in football, supporting clubs in identifying and developing talented players, improving the standard of the women's national teams and establishing a national football centre for women and girls.
Further objectives include utilising the NSBiH club licensing process to develop women's football and increasing the workforce dedicated to women's football in the national association.
There are also plans to create an inclusive pathway that supports female coaches of all levels and to increase the number of women obtaining coaching and refereeing licences.
"The title itself, Our Time, Our Turn, speaks volumes, and we believe it's time to take a major step forward for women's football in our country. We've conducted a thorough analysis of the current situation and set specific goals to work towards in the coming period."
UEFA support
UEFA has supported the NSBiH in the planning, development, writing and communication stages of Our Time, Our Turn.
A number of other national football associations have used UEFA framework to launch women's football strategies, including Italy, Scotland, Albania, Finland, Armenia, Georgia and Liechtenstein.
Our Time, Our Turn also coincides with the publication of UEFA's new women's football strategy, Unstoppable, which sets bold and ambitious targets that will enable us to take the game to another level by 2030.
