The 68th edition of the prestigious Ballon d'Or® awards ceremony took place on Monday 28 October at the grandiose Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris.
Presented annually since 1956 by France Football, the Ballon d'Or® is the most distinguished accolade a footballer can receive in recognition of their outstanding achievements and exceptional talent.
For the first time, this year the awards were organised by Groupe Amaury, owner of France Football and L’Équipe, together with UEFA.
The list of prizes presented during the ceremony included the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or®, the men’s and women’s Johan Cruyff Trophy (best coach of the year), the Kopa Trophy (best young player under the age of 21), the Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), the Gerd Müller Trophy (top scorer), the men’s and women’s Club of the Year, as well as the Sócrates Award (solidarity action).
