The former international striker was elected at an extraordinary Congress on a four-year term, stepping up from his former role as BFU technical director.
"The hard part starts now. I would like to thank everyone who voted for me and against me," he said, adding that one of his goals is to help Bulgaria's men's team qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. "I will do my best to change the football environment and win back the trust of the football people. I promise honesty and hard work."
