The former Waterford United director had already served as vice-president on the FAI Board during the term of outgoing president Gerry McAnaney, who reached the constitutional term limit.
Mr Cooke, a chartered accountant with extensive experience as a senior executive in Irish Business and Media over the past 25 years, previously served as managing director of The Irish Daily Star and managing director and significant shareholder in the Sunday Business Post.
A former Waterford United delegate to the FAI Council, he became the association’s executive lead in 2019, and is a former player-member of Dublin’s Larkview FC.
