Article summary
Internet Piracy RFP to launch on 3 April 2023
Article body
Intellectual property rights sit at the heart of UEFA’s commercial activities (including its media rights arrangements) around the world. As such, it is of critical importance to UEFA that such rights are, to the extent possible, defended and protected against known threats.
In this regard, the unlawful capture and redistribution of footage of UEFA’s competitions and matches by pirates without authorisation is a critical issue for UEFA and so, as part of its efforts to fight all forms of such “Internet piracy”, UEFA shall shortly launch its “Request for Proposals” (RFP) process under which it intends to appoint one or more service providers to provide:
1. monitoring and enforcement services in respect of all common forms of Internet piracy across the Internet (including on social media platforms);
2. specific assistance in relation to certain so-called “blocking orders” obtained by UEFA; and
3. proposals in respect of the provision of other expertise and services which are ancillary to the “core” services mentioned in the first bullet above.
It is currently envisaged that such RFP process shall launch on or around 12:00 CET on 3 April 2023. Organisations wishing to participate in the RFP process are kindly asked to register their interest as soon as possible by sending an email with their full company and contact details to antipiracy@uefa.ch no later than 24 hours prior to the aforementioned time and date. Emails received after that time may still be considered by UEFA but without any obligation in respect thereof.
Provided UEFA is reasonably satisfied as to the credentials of the relevant organisation as a bona fide prospective bidder in respect of the provision of the abovementioned services, a copy of the “Internet Piracy - Request for Proposals” document will thereafter be sent to that organisation.
We look forward to hearing from interested parties in due course.
