Special rules for 2022/23 UEFA club competitions qualifying stages and play-offs

Since the restart of UEFA competitions during the COVID-19 pandemic, UEFA has incorporated in its regulations specific Annexes for the different competition phases, setting out special rules to regulate consequences of possible group quarantines imposed following positive test results and potential rescheduling of matches, including the consequences in case a match cannot be played, as well as paying specific attention to the teams’ travel arrangements.

As a matter of precaution, it is therefore still deemed appropriate and necessary to adopt special rules for the qualifying stages and play-offs of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League and rounds 1 and 2 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League (Annex I) in order to guarantee the continuity of the competitions, should any extraordinary circumstances happen.

The new Annexes follow a structure similar to the Annexes applicable to the 2021/22 club competitions. The section dedicated to venue and country restrictions, which was part of the latest edition of the annexes, has been lifted as it does not appear needed in the current phase.
