European football must be a strong and consistent force for progress in the fight against discrimination. As the finals week of UEFA EURO 2020 kicks off, UEFA and the European Commission are committing to enhance their long-term cooperation in the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion across all of Europe.
Today, we are signing for an #EqualGame, joining some of the biggest global talents of this generation and inviting all stakeholders to pledge for equality in football. UEFA’s Equal Game campaign’s main purpose is to raise awareness that football is for everyone, no matter their personal characteristics, where they are from, where they were born and how they play.
Beyond the UEFA EURO 2020 tournament, building on the momentum for action in stadiums, cities and homes across Europe with a wave of support for greater equality for all, we will be stepping up our joint efforts towards the objectives of the EU’s #UnionOfEquality. The Union of Equality is the EU’s commitment to building a Europe of inclusion and equality in all of its senses, irrespective of sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation.
We can only fight discrimination if all relevant bodies stand together as a team. Step up. Stand together. Make it real!
