UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has met with the President of the Football Federation of North Macedonia, Muamed Sejdini. As part of the discussions, the pair discussed infrastructure projects as well as youth development initiatives, which are aimed at taking football in the country to new heights.
Assistance from UEFA’s HatTrick programme has allowed the Football Federation of North Macedonia to construct numerous pitches across the country for use by local communities and teams. Football academies have also been built, while a lot of work has been implemented to help coach the country’s national teams at all levels.
“I am delighted with the great strides that the Football Federation of North Macedonia has made, under the stewardship of Mr. Sejdini, has taken in recent years,” said the UEFA President. “The country is really beginning to reap the rewards of all their endeavours – from the U21 side qualifying for the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final tournament in Poland, to the senior team making it through to the UEFA EURO final tournament for the first time in their history.”
Aside from their achievements on the field of play, Mr. Čeferin also paid tribute to the Football Federation of North Macedonia for their successful organisation of the 2017 UEFA Super Cup, which saw Real Madrid CF defeat Manchester United FC by two goals to one.
