Burgos lands new Atlético deal

Transfer round-up: Goalkeepers proved popular on Thursday with several in the news.

Reduced terms
Burgos, whose career was put in doubt by surgery on a cancerous growth in his kidney, has accepted reduced terms to stay with Atlético for a third season after his original two-year deal expired. The 34-year-old joined the club from RCD Mallorca in 2001.

Treble chance
Chelsea FC have also completed the paperwork on the signings of three new custodians, Marcio Ambrosio, Jürgen Macho and Yves Makaba Makalamby. The 30-year-old Ambrosio arrives on a free transfer from AC Chievo Verona in his native Italy and has inked a three-year contract. Macho has signed up for two seasons after the 25-year-old Austrian was released by relegated Sunderland AFC. Meanwhile, Makalamby, a 17-year-old Belgian, has joined the London club's youth academy having parted company with PSV Eindhoven.

Freedom of movement
Elsewhere in the English Premiership, promoted Leicester City FC have snapped up Welsh international Danny Coyne on a free transfer from Grimsby Town FC. Coyne is thought to have penned a two-year deal. Another goalkeeper moving for nothing is Wilko de Vogt, who has swapped RBC Roosendaal for Dutch rivals RKC Waalwijk. The 27-year-old former NAC Breda and Sheffield United FC player will replace Rob van Dijk who has left for PSV.

Loans secured
PSV were also involved in the transaction that took midfield player Arvid Smit from the Philips stadium to FC Groningen on a one-year loan. The 22-year-old is contracted to PSV until 2007. In France, AS Monaco FC have borrowed Paris Saint-Germain FC's 24-year-old right-back Eric Cubilier for a season.

Mexican takeaway
English club Manchester City FC have sent striker Martín Vuoso on loan to the Mexican Club Santos Laguna. The 21-year-old Vuoso, a €5m signing from Argentina's CA Independiente de Avellaneda last summer, has failed to make an impact at Maine Road. One player staying in the Premiership, however, is French defender Florent Laville whose loan transfer from Olympique Lyonnais to Bolton Wanderers FC has been made permanent at a cost of €500,000. Laville has signed a two-year contract.
