Coach Vitaliy Kvartsyanyi has parted company with Ukrainian Premier League surprise package FC Volyn Lutsk.

'Many reasons'
A defeat against FC Arsenal Kyiv on Sunday hastened the coach's departure, as Kvartsyanyi said: "The senior club officials told me that they don't see the prospect of further work with me. So I had to hand in my resignation. I am not sure who'll be coaching the club now, and I can name many reasons behind what happened."

Long association
Kvartsyanyi joined the club as chairman and head coach in 2001. He then was moved to vice-president, the job he held in the club at the end of 1980s and the early 1990s. After leaving the club in 1994, he joined FC Podillya Khmelnitskyi, taking them from the second division to the top of the first.

Surprise package
This season, Volyn were the surprise package of the Ukrainian Premier League. After a seven-year absence from the top flight, the Lutsk side has come back with a bang, ensuring a top-six finish and beating the likes of FC Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Dynamo Kyiv along the way.

Club problems
But after beating Shakhtar and Dynamo in back-to-back matches, Volyn fell to a 2-0 defeat against struggling FC Metalurh Zaporizhya 2-0, and are under investigation from the Control and Disciplinary Body of the Football Federation of Ukraine for alleged match fixing. Aside from that, the club is being investigated by Ukrainian authorities for alleged tax evasion.
