Olexiy Byelik scored both goals to earn leaders FC Shakhtar Donetsk a 2-0 victory over rivals FC Metalurh Donetsk in the Donetsk derby in the latest round of games in Ukraine.

Double strike
The 22-year-old striker scored twice in a match for the third time this season, his first giving Shakhtar a 14th-minute lead inside the 125-letiya DMZ stadium. Byelik then scored his 14th goal of the season two minutes from time to make sure of the points and to maintain his side's four-point lead over second-places FC Dynamo Kyiv.

Dynamo in the hunt
Dynamo kept pace with the leaders thanks to a 2-0 away win at FC Olexandria. Tiberiu Ghioane gave the visitors the lead on ten minutes, before Maxim Shatskikh added a 72-minute second. The match also saw highly-rated 18-year-old Artem Milevsky make his league debut for 2000/01 champions Dynamo.

Cnornomorets on the up
FC Chornomorets Odesa, struggling in 12th place, recorded a fourth victory in five games with a 2-0 success against FC Tavriya Simferopol, while FC Karpaty Lviv triumphed over FC Metalist Kharkiv by a same scoreline.

Dnipro disappointment
Fourth-placed FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk could only manage a goalless draw against ten-man FC Arsenal Kyiv, and FC Vorskla Poltava will be delighted with a 2-1 win against FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. FC Obolon Kyiv held FC Volyn Lutsk to a 1-1 draw in the capital, while the same scoreline was repeated in the match between FC Illichivets Mariupil and FC Metalurh Zaporizhya.
