Article body
Bologna FC missed the chance to put pressure on the Serie A leaders and had goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca to thank for saving them from defeat after a 0-0 draw at Udinese Calcio on Saturday.
Superb goalkeeping
After a quiet first half, Udinese midfielder Martin Jørgensen forced the 35-year-old ex-Italian international into a series of spectacular saves. Pagliuca saved twice in the 50th minute, beating away Jørgensen's long-range effort and Roberto Muzzi's powerful strike on the rebound. Two minutes later he was beaten by Jørgensen's 20-metre strike but the ball hit the left-hand post, rolled along the line and off the right post.
Late game
Bologna moved up to fourth in the table, on 12 points and just behind Serie A champions Juventus FC on goal difference. Juventus, current league leaders Internazionale FC and second-placed AC Milan all have a game in hand and play on Sunday.
Misery for Torino
Tonight's late game brought more misery for Torino Calcio as they lost 2-0 at home against fellow strugglers Brescia Calcio. Igli Tare opened the scoring for the visitors after 31 minutes and Stephan Appiah added a second with three minutes to go to leave Torino with just three points from their first seven Serie A games.
