Signori strike
Earlier, a fine individual goal from former Italian international Giuseppe Signori helped Bologna keep pace with the Serie A leaders with a 2-1 home win against Perugia.
Cruz on the mark
Perugia, who dropped to 12th place following the defeat, had Iranian defender Rahman Rezaei sent off in added time after a challenge on Bologna’s Julio Ricardo Cruz. The Argentinian striker put the home side ahead in the 31st minute with a low shot which Perugia's Brazilian defender Zé Maria was unable to stop on the line.
Impressive strike
Former Lazio striker Signori doubled the advantage seven minutes later with a trademark goal, bursting down the left before unleashing a fierce and perfectly placed left-foot drive from more than 20 metres.
Perugia pull one back
Perugia reduced the deficit just before half-time when Andrea Caracciolo sprang Bologna's offside trap and beat the advancing Gianluca Pagliuca with a fine lofted shot.
