FK Obilic coach Ratko Dostanic resigned on Monday following his side's loss to FK Rudar Plevlja.

FK Obilic coach Ratko Dostanic announced his resignation on Monday following his side's 1-0 away defeat by FK Rudar Plevlja at the weekend.

UEFA Cup exit
Obilic president Svetlana Raznatovic has said that a new coach will be named on Tuesday. Dostanic took over at Obilic, currently third in Yugoslavia's Prva Savezna Liga table, in 2001 but has seen his side struggle domestically after their first-round exit from the UEFA Cup.

'Decision is irreversible'
"He told me he cannot go on and that his decision is irreversible," said Raznatovic. "I have accepted it, although he was my favourite. He took the responsibility for the poor performances this spring. I think it is more the players responsibility and I will hold a meeting with them telling them that they are professionals and that they should have more respect for the club."

'Could not motivate'
Dostanic blamed a lack of ambition on behalf of his players for his shock exit from the club. "I could not raise the interest of the players and I could not motivate them to play," he said. "It seems that they are satisfied with third position and my ambitions were much higher. I hope this change will shake them up a bit."
