FC Porto climbed to third place in the 1. Liga table with a 1-0 home win over struggling FC Paços de Ferreira on Sunday.
Pinho error
Octávio Machado's men struck the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute after a mistake from Paços goalkeeper Pinho. A well struck free-kick on the left, from the Brazilian Deco, stung the palms of the visitors' keeper who then let the ball slip through his fingers and across the line.
Goal disallowed
Paços thought they had equalised in the 89th minute, when Zé Manuel latched on to a through ball from Leonardo Lobato, but the referee disallowed the goal for offside and Porto took all three points.
Belenenses salvage draw
CF Os Belenenses salvaged a 1-1 draw at home to CD Santa Clara to keep in touch with the leading pack. Morales shocked home fans with an eighth-minute opener for the visitors, but a Paulo César Peixoto penalty, with half an hour to go, earned his side a point.
Gil Vicente hit form
Gil Vicente FC secured a valuable three points with a 3-1 home win over fellow strugglers SC Farense, who remain stuck in the relegation zone. Farense struck first with a Carlos Manuel Costa effort in the 23rd minute but after the interval it was one-way traffic with Cameroon international Rudolph Douala equalising after 55 minutes, and El Ali Omari putting the home side into the lead eleven minutes later.
Douala double
Douala then grabbed his second, and his side's third, three minutes from time to round off a devastating second-half spell. Farense also had defender Rodri Martinez sent off in the 72nd minute. Meanwhile, rock-bottom Varzim SC battled out a scoreless draw with SC Salgueiros and remain rooted to the foot of the table.
