Tomasson completes Milan move

Danish striker Jon Dahl Tomasson has signed a four-year contract with Milan AC and will join them from Eredivisie club Feyenoord at the end of the season.

The Serie A club said on Wednesday that the 25-year-old, a regular in the Danish national side, has signed a deal that will run until June 2006, after passing a medical in Milan. Tomasson is out of contract and so will not cost Milan a transfer fee.

'Repay the faith'
"I am really proud to be joining one of the most prestigious clubs in the world and I hope I can repay the faith the club are showing in me," Tomasson told the club's television station. Tomasson will team up with fellow Danish 2002 FIFA World Cup hopefuls Thomas Helveg and Martin Laursen at Milan.

'A very versatile striker'
Club vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "We have been observing him for a good while and he has all the characteristics we are looking for. He is a very versatile striker who can create as well as score goals and can also play behind the strikers. Helveg and Laursen have spoken very highly of him."

Spell in England
Tomasson began his career with Dutch club SC Heerenveen before moving to the FA Premiership and Newcastle United FC in 1997, but he failed to settle on Tyneside, scoring just three goals in 23 appearances before returning to the Netherlands.

This season he has helped Feyenoord reach the final of the UEFA Cup, where they will play 1. Bundesliga club BV Borussia Dortmund. Tomasson has won 33 caps for Denmark, scoring 13 goals.
