UEFA’s Respect Your Health initiative is happy to add the successful Muuvit scheme from Finland to its programme of activities for schools in the two UEFA EURO 2012 host countries.
Muuvit – an easy-to-use interactive tool for teachers – will soon be one of the activities offered by the Respect Your Health – Euroschools 2012 project, the one-year community health education campaign which is reaching out to young people in Poland and Ukraine as part of UEFA's overall social responsibility campaign for EURO, Respect.
After a series of kick-off events in all eight UEFA European Championship host cities, some 1,000 classes from schools throughout Poland and Ukraine will have the chance to register to take part in Muuvit – a physical adventure allowing children to discover the world beyond their desks, family cars and the not-always-so great indoors.
The name of the game is to gets youngsters moving – while also making school more enjoyable, of course. Each pupil will collect 'kilometres' by doing physical activities, such as cycling to school or playing football with their friends. Once all the classmates have added up their kilometres, they will be able to travel the world together in the online Muuvit Adventure. The more the students have moved physically, the more they will be able to discover in the game.
Respect your Health – Euroschools 2012 focuses on smoking prevention, responsible alcohol consumption, healthy diet and physical activity among young people and their families.
