Eddie May, who captained Wrexham AFC to the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1975/76, has died at the age of 68.
The English-born defender started his career with Southend United FC but made his name in Wales, where he played for Wrexham from 1968–76 before ending his playing days at Swansea City AFC. He later managed Newport County FC, Cardiff City FC, Torquay United FC and Brentford FC, and also coached in Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Finland, the Republic of Ireland and Zimbabwe. He won the 1974/75 Welsh Cup with Wrexham as a player and the same competition as manager of Cardiff in 1992/93.
