Toulouse suffer cup upset, PSG scrape through

Toulouse FC became the fifth Ligue 1 side to be dumped out of the French Cup this weekend as they slipped to a 1-0 loss at third-tier Gazélec Ajaccio, while there was relief for Carlo Ancelotti's Paris Saint-Germain FC after they squeezed past Saint-Colomban Locminé to reach the last 32.

If it was tough for France's top-flight teams on Saturday, Toulouse found the going no easier in Corsica as they became the highest-profile club to suffer an upset. TFC coach Alain Casanova fielded a strong lineup but hosts Gazélec fully merited their win, earned when Anthony Colinet released Mickaël Colloredo to score shortly after half-time.

Ligue 1 leaders PSG avoided an even more eye-catching outcome when Diego Lugano headed them to a 2-1 victory at fifth-tier Locminé in the third minute of added time. Javier Pastore (53) had earlier struck the first goal of Ancelotti's reign, but the capital outfit were pegged back by Abou Maïga's 72nd-minute spot kick and looked destined for extra time until Lugano's late intervention.

Also on Sunday, Évian Thonon Gaillard FC edged Ligue 2 hopefuls FC Metz on penalties following a 2-2 draw and Lisandro plundered a hat-trick as Olympique Lyonnais won 3-1 at third-division neighbours AS Lyon Duchère.
