PSV Eindhoven have agreed the signing of Danish international defender Mathias 'Zanka' Jørgensen from FC København on a four-year contract.
The 21-year-old, who will be reunited with former København team-mate Atiba Hutchinson at the Eredivisie side, will join PSV on a free transfer this summer after five seasons with the Danish champions. He has helped FCK to three successive league titles from 2009 to 2011.
Jørgensen, who started out with Danish second-tier outfit Boldklubben 1893, has made 89 Superliga appearances for the Løverne, as well as four for Denmark's senior team. Although the centre-back has been limited to just eight top-flight outings this term after sustaining knee ligament damage in September, he hopes to recover in time for UEFA EURO 2012.
'Zanka', so called after a character in the 1993 film Cool Runnings, was presented with his shirt at the PSV Stadion by the Dutch club's former midfielder Willy van der Kuijlen. "It's very nice to be in this stadium with a lot of history and finally know I'm going to be a part of it this summer," said Jørgensen. "I am very happy. I have recovered from my knee injury and hope to make my comeback shortly."
PSV top the Eredivisie, level on points with AZ Alkmaar. Morten Olsen's Denmark face the Netherlands, Portugal and Germany in Group B at UEFA EURO 2012.
