Paris Saint-Germain FC triumped 2-0 in their Ligue 1 summit meeting with Olympique Lyonnais at the Parc des Princes.
PSG and Lyon were locked together on 17 points from their opening eight matches before kick-off, but second-half strikes from Javier Pastore and Christophe Jallet clinched an important win for the hosts.
Montpellier Hérault SC, level on points with Lyon in second, scored twice in the last two minutes to claim a dramatic 2-2 draw at FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Goals from Cheick Diabaté and Michaël Ciani either side of half-time looked to have given Bordeaux victory before Younés Belhanda and Hilton secured an unlikely point for René Girard's side.
Reigning champions LOSC Lille Métropole ended their run of five straight draws in all competitions with a 2-0 win against Stade Rennais FC, while in the other Sunday fixture, Olympique de Marseille's underwhelming form continued as they were held 1-1 by Stade Brestois 29 at the Stade Vélodrome.
FC Lorient extended their unbeaten run to six league fixtures to go sixth with a 2-0 home triumph over Valenciennes CF, while a Modibo Maiga double inspired FC Sochaux-Montbéliard to a 3-0 win against Toulouse FC, who drop to fourth.
AJ Auxerre, meanwhile, were held to a sixth draw in nine Ligue 1 games versus AS Saint-Étienne despite taking an early lead through Ben Sahar. Elsewhere, there were equivalent 1-1 results for AS Nancy-Lorraine, SM Caen and Dijon FCO.
