Juventus moved level on points with AC Milan at the Serie A summit despite being held to a goalless draw at third-placed Udinese Calcio while AS Roma, SSC Napoli and FC Internazionale Milano claimed impressive victories.
In a meeting of the meanest defences in Italy, it was perhaps unsurprising that the game finished goalless with the Bianconeri extending their unbeaten run to 16 games. Juventus have now kept eight clean sheets this campaign, one less than their opponents, who head into the winter break in third, two points off the pace.
S.S. Lazio missed the chance to leapfrog Udinese after being held to a goalless draw at home to AC Chievo Verona. Inter came from behind to secure their eighth win of the season against US Lecce thanks to second-half strikes from Diego Milito, Esteban Cambiasso and Ricardo Álvarez.
Napoli scored six in their sizeable victory at home to Genoa CFC with in-form striker Edinson Cavani netting his eighth and ninth goals of the campaign. Rodrigo Taddei and Pablo Osvaldo were on target for sixth-placed Roma in their win at Bologna, who lie in 16th.
Elsewhere, Atalanta BC put four past AC Cesena, Novara Calcio required two goals in the final 13 minutes to share the spoils with US Città di Palermo and Parma FC surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Calcio Catania.
